AUTISM- SOME SIGNS TO LOOK FOR IN THE CHILDREN

According to statistics 1 in 68 individuals diagnosed with Autism. Studies in the past show that it is being prevalent in the country. Globally, Autism is estimated to affect 21.7 million people as of 2013. It affects people of all nationalities and cultural, religious and social backgrounds. Autism which is also considered as Autism Spectrum Disorder is a lifelong developmental disability affecting social and communication skills. ASD is a neurological condition that affects the way a person experiences and interacts with the world.

 

Boys are nearly five times more susceptible to have autism than girls with 1 in every 42 boys being diagnosed with autism. Autism is a lifelong neurological disability that affects the interaction capability of a person.Autistic people see, hear and feel the world differently to other people. Autism is not an illness or disease and cannot be cured.

They suffer from learning disabilities, mental health issues or other conditions. They are different from other people and require the different level of support. With the right kind of support, we can help to live their life more conveniently.

 

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex neurodevelopmental disability. Symptoms appear during the early stage of childhood and hamper the communication and interaction ability with others. Though the cause of autism is still unknown, but increased awareness and early diagnosis and appropriate support lead to improved outcomes. Some most common behaviors associated with autism include difficulty in learning languages, difficulty in making eye contact, difficulty in conversation, difficulty in executing planning or reasoning activities and lack of interest for social interaction.

 

HERE ARE SOME SIGNS TO LOOK FOR IN THE CHILDREN IN YOUR LIFE:

· Appear to be insensitive to sounds, tastes, smells, light, colors, temperature or pain.

·  Seek out time alone when overloaded by other people

·  Not seek comfort from other people

· Appear to behave 'strangely' or in a way thought to be socially inappropriate.

·  Autistic people may find it hard to form friendships.

·         Repetitive behavior and routines.

 

What causes autism?

The exact cause of autism is still unclear. Researchers suggest that multiple factors attribute to autism such as genetic and environmental or due to the abnormality in brain function or structure.

 

Is autism curable?

 

Autism is not curable, but it is treatable. There are some effective treatments for children with autism. There is a range of strategies and approaches as well as training and skills which work for people with autism.
