Finally monsoon has overspread in almost every part of the India. Undoubtedly, it is a time when people breathe a sigh of relief after scorching and sweltering heat. But unfortunately this pleasant weather can rob all your happiness and destroy your good mood. As, it highly increases your chances of getting infected with bacterial and viral diseases, you really need to be more vigilant about your health condition in monsoon season.

In monsoon, the bacteria and virus spread at faster rate and adversely weaken the immune system. Children and kids are highly susceptible to get infections and easily catch a cold and flu so they need extra care and attention to ward off sickness. There are some most common infections and sickness in the monsoon that makes you more vulnerable to stick to the bed. But fortunately, you can avoid monsoon illness by following certain precautions and tips. Here, explaining some most common infections and must-follow tips to prevent yourself and your family during monsoon.

Some of the most common infections during monsoon are-

1) Conjunctivitis-

Conjunctivitis is a highly contagious and one of the most common infections during monsoon that affects people of all ages. It is an eye infection which is usually caused by virus and bacteria. It symptoms include redness in eyes, irritation, discharge, dryness, itchiness, puffy eye, or watery eyes. You can prevent yourself by following proper hygiene. It is highly recommended to follow healthy and hygienic tips. Washing your hands at a regular interval, not sharing your hanky and towels with anyone, staying away from infected people, avoiding the outdoor visit, you can greatly ward off monsoon infections.

2) Diarrhea-

Diarrhea is one of the most pathetic conditions that mostly affect the children during monsoon. So you need to be extra alert about what you eat and drink. As in diarrhea, your bowel function gets infected and your stomach becomes inflamed and you suffer from issues like abdominal cramps, loose and watery stool, fever, bloating, and vomiting. Usually, it lasts for 2 to 3 days and may need proper medication. It may cause chronic dehydration if not treated soon. So it is better to prevent the infection rather than to suffer. Drink plenty of water during monsoon to prevent infection and dehydration.

3) Malaria-

Malaria is one of the most common mosquito-borne diseases that spread from mosquito bite. It symptoms may vary from person to person that includes fever, shivering, seizures, and sweats. During monsoon, the stagnant water increases the number of mosquitoes which further increases the chances of mosquito-borne disease. So prevention from mosquitoes is very much required in monsoon. By using proper insect repellants, bed nets, drinking boiling water, avoiding water stagnation in the house, you can highly shield yourself from malaria.

4) Respiratory tract infections-

People with weaken immune system are at greater risk of getting respiratory infection during monsoon. Problems like cough, runny nose and sore throat are some common conditions people suffer from. They may also suffer from watery eyes, sneezing, and serious congestion. By drinking plenty of boiled water, fresh juice, warm lemon juice, avoiding alcohol and excessive caffeine, staying away from infected people, you can highly prevent respiratory infections.

5) Skin infection-

Skin infections are common infection that easily spread from one to another during monsoon. The irritating and painful skin infection is caused due to fungus and bacteria. Symptoms like red patches, inflammation, pain and swelling in patches are some common symptoms. Inculcating healthy hygienic habits, not sharing your stuffs with other, washing your hands at regular interval, you can prevent skin infection.
