Due to various risk factors and exposure to environmental hazards and toxins, there has been a continuous hike in the number of people affected by lifestyle diseases. According to a study by the World Health Organization and the World Economic Forum, 63% of death attributes to lifestyle diseases. So, it is high time to know more about lifestyle diseases and the ways to fend them off.

Though, lifestyle diseases have been highly linked with the three most important risk factors including unhealthy diet, smoking, and sedentary lifestyles. But, there are some other factors also that equally contribute to triggering lifestyle diseases such as unhealthy weight, exposure to toxins, chronic depression, stress, years of disability and many more. Some of the most common lifestyle diseases that affect millions of people’s health are- obesity, depression, cancer, heart diseases, hormonal disorders, food allergies, asthma, diabetes, stroke, osteoporosis, type-2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, etc.

Following this tips you can reduce your chances of contracting lifestyle diseases.

1) Consume right food-

The foods you consume play an essential role in overall wellness. So the food you choose to eat should be nutrient rich and healthy. It is highly recommended to consume more green leafy vegetables and fruits as they are loaded with anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. They are high in fiber and less in cholesterol and fat and hence prevent from various unhealthy medical conditions.

2) Exercise regularly-

Make some time for exercise as it does not only help keep your body healthy but also make it enough strong to prevent from various illnesses and diseases. It prevents from obesity, diabetes, depression and cardiovascular problem. Even 15 minutes of brisk walking can do wonder for your health.

3) Drink plenty of water-

Consume water as much as possible and keep yourself hydrated! Drinking water is one of the best ways to fend of various diseases. It helps flush out toxins from the body. So drink at least 7 to 8 liter of water daily.

4) Get Out in the Sun-

Get out in the sun and get some vitamin D. Sun is the important source of vitamin D. So, it is necessary to spend at least 5 to 10 minute in direct sunlight but avoid over exposure to sunlight.

5) Break the Addictions-

Your addictions to smoking, alcohol, tea, coffee and sugary drinks can take a toll on your health. They produce acid and decrease the amount of minerals like calcium and iron. They weaken the immunity and can cause frequent mood swing.
